Wild Evel & the Trashbones presentan "Tales from the cave" (Soundflat).

Wild Evel es el cantante de The Incredible Staggers, banda austriaca convertida en uno de los grupos más notables del garage punk europeo de la última década. Allá por el año 2008 decidió dar forma a este proyecto paralelo aliándose con unos cuantos amiguetes de los Roadrunners. Así nacieron Wild Evel & the Trashbones y comenzaron a recorrer escenarios europeos. Su primera referencia vio la luz con un sello madrileño, un single editado por Hey Girl Records que se convirtió en la primera tarjeta de visita de estos hombres primitivos del siglo XXI.

Desde entonces les seguimos la pista aquí abajo, en el Sótano, esperando que llegase ese primer álbum con el que nos mostraran todas sus cartas: unas cartas que en esta escena son siempre las mismas pero que cada grupo juega a su manera: toneladas de fuzz, fafisa, salvajismo, letras involutivas, zombis y otras referencias tenebrosas. Desde luego, en el reparto para este disco, a Wild Evel le ha salido buena mano.

Andre Williams sigue en la carretera

Nadie puede llamar “sucia” a otra persona de la forma en que lo hace Andre Williams, este tipo sabe de lo que habla.

The Black Godfather. El sr Williams, lleva unos cuantos años disfrutando de una segunda juventud. Con su papel de pionero y leyenda del R&B ya acorazado y a prueba de balas, a sus 75 primaveras, sigue recorriendo escenarios y visitando estudios de grabación de forma incansable.

La última le ha llevado a juntarse con una buena tropa; en este disco, “Hoods and shades”, editado por Bloodshot Records, han participado: al contrabajo el célebre productor Don Was, a las guitarras la leyenda de la Motown Dennis Coffey y el señor Greasy Carlisy, recordado entre muchas otras labores por su papel junto a Robert Gordon y Chris Spedding. Jim Diamond, de los Dirtbombs, al bajo eléctrico, Jim White, batería de los Dirty Three a las baquetas. Y empacando el resultado, el veterano productor Matthew Smith. Con esta plantilla no hace falta insistir en que el sonido de este álbum es absolutamente brillante.

¿Y el señor Andre Williams? Pues escribe todos los temas y, conocedor de sus limitaciones, aporta su cavernosa voz de forma comedida, ofreciendo más presencia y actitud que palabras, adornando aquí y allá las excelentes bases instrumentales.

Merendola Party con The Meows

La banda The Meows ha puesto los fogones a todo gas y se ha cocinado un suculento menú de  rock'n'roll especiado con R&B, soul, garage o punk rock.

Estos cheffs de Barcelona han elaborado su receta a fuego lento, con mimo, con mucha calidad de sonido y a sabiendas de que, tras la primera ingesta, la electrizante explosión de sabor estaba garantizada en cualquier paladar amante del rock'n'roll.

Guadalupe Plata, Robert Johnson y el diablo

No hay tanta distancia de la ribera del Guadalquivir al delta del Mississippi. Ni de las plantaciones de algodón a los campos de olivares. Tres cuartos de siglo separan las grabaciones de Robert Johnson del segundo disco de Guadalupe Plata, pero seguro que el trío de Úbeda tiene muy presentes las eseñanzas del autor del "Me and the devil blues". No sabemos si el guitarrista Perico salió una medianoche en busca de una aparición en un cruce de caminos. Pero aquel demonio que alimentó la leyenda de Johnson sigue presente en las letras y simbología de los Gudalupe.

El nuevo álbum no tiene título ni ninguna otra información. Tan solo un diseño excepcional y un electrificado y cautivador contenido en su limitada edición en vinilo. Tienes más información aquí: www.folcrecords.com Para nosotros ya es uno de los discos del año.
